Dr. Jun Fan
Dr. Jun Fan is an associate professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, CityU. Dr. Fan received her bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, Master’s
degree from McMaster University, Canada, and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering from Princeton University, USA. She worked under Prof. Mikko Haataja for her Ph.D.
thesis and focused on the structure and dynamics of cell membranes. Afterwards,
she moved to the
University of Chicago, USA for as a postdoctoral researcher. She explored the structure, function
and mechanical properties of protein complexes, using molecular dynamics simulations and coarse-
grained approaches. Her research results have turned into peer-reviewed papers in prestigious
journals including Nature Communications, Nature Plants, Physical Review Letters, Biophysical
Journal, and Journal of Chemical Physics, etc.
